AFM COLLECTION
Highlights and Latest Acquisitions
10.09.11 - 04.03.12
The CCA Kunsthalle is pleased to present, for the third time, an
exhibition with the latest acquisitions of the Art Foundation
Mallorca Collection as well as highlights from the previous
years.
Comprising major works of artists such as Cosima von
Bonin, Tony Matelli, Hans-Peter
Feldmann, Gert & Uwe Tobias,
Jeppe Hein, Ernesto Neto and
Ulla von Brandenburg just to mention a few, the
Art Foundation Mallorca is internationally renowned for its
exceptional collection of contemporary art.
The annual curated AFM Show at the CCA Andratx, that also host
the collection throughout the year, attracts art lovers,
collectors, experts and the general public to the CCA Andratx from
all around the world to view a selection of works by some of the
most talented artists today and providing an interesting overview
of the latest trends in contemporary art.
The 2011 edition of the AFM Show places great emphasis
on sculpture featuring works such as the Telephone Booth
by British artist Martin Boyce, nominated for the
Turner Prize 2011, the Portrait of Jim Morrison by Graham
Dolphin (UK), Crocodile Tears by the young Swedish artist
and feminist Cajsa von Zeipel, and the Untitled
(White Sculpture) by Matt Calderwood, another
British artist to look out for.
The AFM Collection is composed of almost 200 art works by
approximately 150 artists covering a wide range of media and
artistic expressions.
The curatorial team of the Art Foundation Mallorca is made up of
Patricia Asbaek (DK), Barry Schwabsky (US) and Friederike Nymphius
(DE) carefully selecting and approving each new acquisition. All
three are well known experts in Contemporary Art, travelling all
year round to the leading art fairs, exhibitions and events taking
place on the international art scene to identify the most talented
artists and their best pieces for the AFM Collection.
